Taking tea at cabbie’s secret snack spots across London

You may have already spotted one of the capital’s many ‘cabbie shelters‘ and wondered what these overgrown garden sheds with their distinctive green wooden exteriors were. Well, in case you didn’t know, they have been offering shelter for the drivers of taxis since 1875, and to this day they still serve up an outstanding cup of tea. In addition, they offer various snacks, even a full English breakfast!

An even lesser known fact is that they are not just limited to cabbies but are open to anyone passing, and with the SC team spending much of their day zipping about town on their scooters, they serve as a great place for a quick cuppa and certainly beat the big coffee chains hands down in the originality stakes. The boys’ favourite is on Chelsea Embankment, but there are 13 around town, including Hanover Square, where word on the street is that Madonna is also a fan…
